Gravity

Modern dumptrucks dump semi-fabricates into a 200m deep Glory Hole. The fall gives the semi-fabricates its first crushing impact.

Then the material is crushed further by 2 crushers. Here the economy of scale becomes applicable; the primary crusher belongs to one of the largest in Europe. Further the crushed material < 150mm is being transported to the fjord by a conveyor belt through a 1.500 m long tunnel. Because of the belt’s 15 degrees angle, gravity is propelling the conveyor belt. Simultaneously electricity is being generated, which is more than enough to power the crushers. The energy surplus is supplied to the Norwegian electricity grid.

Then the product is being stored in a stock with a capacity of 300.000 ton. Ships are being loaded by opening the shutters underneath the stock. Again, gravity is being used to load the conveyor belt which loads the largest self-unloading bulk carriers.

The unique production process results in significant energy reductions, that have got a positive effect on our Carbon footprint. For more information please ask for Innovaders® report d.d. November 2007.

Routing in the quarry:
In the quarry modern dumptrucks only drive horizontally and short distances.
